Filler dissolving is a treatment used to reduce or remove hyaluronic acid dermal filler. It uses an enzyme called hyaluronidase, which breaks down the filler so the body can naturally clear it.

A small amount of hyaluronidase is injected into the area containing unwanted filler. The enzyme begins breaking down the hyaluronic acid filler, allowing it to be absorbed naturally by the body.

Filler dissolving can be used in many areas where hyaluronic acid filler has previously been placed, including the lips, cheeks, chin, jawline, nose and under-eye area.

Most clients find the treatment manageable. You may feel a brief stinging or pinching sensation during the injections. A numbing product may be used where appropriate to make the treatment more comfortable.

You may notice changes within the first 24–48 hours, although the area can continue to settle over the following days. Full results are generally assessed after around 1–2 weeks.

Temporary redness, swelling, tenderness or bruising can occur around the injection sites. Your practitioner will discuss possible reactions and aftercare with you before treatment.

In many cases, hyaluronic acid filler can be significantly reduced or fully dissolved. The amount removed can vary depending on the filler used, how much product is present and how your body responds to treatment.
